And before somebody gets their nose out of joint: no, I'm not saying that nobody is a victim.
But assigning an entire demographic as "victims" really is a bit much.
America used to be a place where there were no victims of ideologies, of history. America used to be a place where you could start clean, where you could defy the odds, where you achieved things based on your own merit. No, we've never been perfect, but we've tried to right our wrongs.
It just makes me so sad to see people who could do so much succumb to the label of "victim" when nothing's been done to them personally.
We're being conditioned to accept the okay thing being handed out when we could have that really awesome thing if we put down our own ego and take a chance.
Yes, some people are legitimately victims. But we live in a country of second chances.
And we're losing that.
That's what makes me sad.
