Never Alone | Beautiful Eccentricity: Never Alone

Never Alone

I feel like a lot of people know this verse:
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
It's Joshua 1:9, in case you don't.
Usually, people quote this when they're talking about something scary like an illness or something, but when I heard it the other day, I realized something: when people quote this, they're talking about something physically scary. But... what about things that are emotionally scary? Something like, oh, say, singleness.

I'm going to be painfully and embarrassingly honest here: singleness - like, forever - scares me. I want the companionship that comes with a marriage. I want a family. That's what I've always felt called to be, a wife and mother. Now, I know things come in God's time and not ours, and some days it's easier than others to wait on Him. But some days, it's really, painfully hard.

But just as we may feel alone, we're not, are we?
We're not to be dismayed with our singleness, because we're not alone.
And honestly, I don't know what's more comforting than that. It's better than ice cream.
