The Tragic Life of an Opera and Slight Theater Nerd

I had some rather unwelcome news yesterday.
I was cleaning out photos from my mobile and I came across a picture I had taken of this poster at a movie theater.
It was an advertisement for Rusalka, a Russian opera about a mermaid (NOT "The Little Mermaid" . . . I think more along the lines of Ondine).
Anyhoo, I looked at the dates for the showings of Rusalka . . . and I misSED IT.
Yep.
I had been waiting for months to catch that opera somewhere, it came, and I missed it.

That's like the third time something like that's happened.

I wanted to see Benedict Cumberbatch in Frankenstein about 2 years ago as both Frankenstein and the Creature (the Creature's name is NOT Frankenstein, but that's a lecture for another post) in alternate showings, and I missed it. They were airing them again about 2 months ago, and again, I missed it.
NTL is doing productions of Macbeth now, starring Kenneth Branagh and Alex Kingston both of whom I think are perfect for the roles and are they playing it anywhere in a 50 mile radius?
No.
100 mile radius?
Nope.
150?
Uh-uh.
I think the closest showing was literally in Iowa.
Yeah, no thanks, I've got life happening that week.

A few months ago I posted a list of operas I wanted to see, and since I'd like to keep the list alive and updated, I guess I'll go ahead and post it here and bold the ones I really wanna see, mark the ones I've already seen, and I'll even rate them in case you're curious about which ones are "meh" and which ones are "WOW".
Maybe some kind soul will upload some operas to YouTube or something. . .

Are there any operas and plays you'd like to see?

    1. Yay! I'll let you know if I ever catch wind of a Les Mis around.
      It's also painfully long. . .
