If your answer was yes, we've got a lot in common.
If the skill you had in mind was parallel parking, we're twinsies.
Like 99.9% of other drivers, I learned how to parallel park when I took driver's ed.
Like 98.7% of other drivers, I promptly forgot how because 1) I'd rather not pay for parking no matter how "convenient" it is, and 2) I never really went downtown anyway.
Well.
Fast forward . . . one, two, three . . . seven years, and I'm downtown, looking for a place to park so I could meet my friends at a coffee shop. (No, I still don't drink it.)
I'm kind of in a hurry, so I decide to bite the bullet and parallel park.
Ugh.
So, I start to shimmy in, and I'm thinking to myself, "Gosh, this is going to be SUCH a woman's parking job".
I was not far wrong.
I realized I could use the shop window as a mirror, so I was no longer worried about hitting the car behind me, but then I saw it.
RESERVED HANDICAP PARKING.
Erg!
All that work, effort, and lip biting, and I couldn't even keep the spot!
I ended up driving all the way around to the Marina parking lot, but I was a little miffed.
I had been so proud of myself, and then . . . yeah.
And then people wonder why I hate parking around Bay Street.
